Turn on Developer options.
Settings > System > About. Click Android TV OS build until it says you're a developer.

The free Downloader app by AFTVnews, from the Play Store on your TV.

Type this link and press Go.

Install, then open PlayFlex.
Allow Downloader to install apps, and let PlayFlex display over other apps.

Pick your movie folders.
Allow videos and notifications, tick your folders, tap Save folders.

Questions
Is PlayFlex free?
Yes. Both apps are free, with no ads and no account.
Does it upload my movies anywhere?
No. Your movies stay on your phone and play over your home Wi-Fi only.
Does it work with an iPhone?
No. PlayFlex needs an Android phone and an Android TV or Google TV.
The TV can't find my phone.
Check both are on the same Wi-Fi. If it still can't, choose Type phone address on the TV and enter the address shown in the phone app.
