OpenAI GPT Model Update Tracker
OpenAI first announced ChatGPT in 2023, and it created a storm around the world. Since then, AI models for regular users have been made available, and the latest models have been phenomenal at what they do.
Although models in the beginning focused on multiple capabilities, including image and video generation, the transition slowly happened to coding. Now every model is competing for the top coding benchmarks, including OpenAI.
OpenAI is going through a big shift, focusing on coding and its Codex model, and bringing a lot of changes recently. They announced a super app and rolled out a couple of updates to the Codex app, which is also available for Mac and Windows.
OpenAI's current GPT-6 family includes Astra, Sol, and Luna. GPT-6 Astra arrived on September 3, 2026, followed by GPT-6 Sol and Luna on September 22 and GPT-6.1 Sol on September 29.
In the update trackers, we track all the latest updates to the GPT models. As always, you can bookmark this post for the latest updates.
