One UI 9 Updates: Full Changelog

Android 17 is stable, and Samsung's Android 17-based One UI 9 beta is available for Galaxy S26 series users in South Korea, Germany, the UK, the US, India, and Poland. Here is the full One UI 9 changelog with the latest confirmed releases and changes.

Stable One UI 9 debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 in July 2026, and the Galaxy S26 FE shipped with it preinstalled on 27 August 2026. The Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra began receiving the stable update on 16 September 2026.

Samsung began the official One UI 9 rollout on the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra after about four months of beta, and confirmed a partial list of Galaxy devices in line for Android 17.

Beta 8

Eighth Public BetaSeptember 1, 2026

Samsung shipped an eighth One UI 9 beta to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, firmware ending ZZHM, at roughly 513 MB with the August 5, 2026 security patch. It launched in South Korea first, and Samsung released the first One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S25 series on the same day. A Beta 8 hotfix followed shortly afterwards.

  • A follow-up Beta 8 hotfix went out to Galaxy S26 Ultra testers in South Korea.

Beta 7

Seventh Public BetaAugust 28, 2026

One UI 9 Beta 7 reached the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra as a roughly 1,234 MB download, firmware ending ZZHK, carrying the August 5, 2026 security patch. It went live in South Korea, India, the UK, Poland, and Germany ahead of a US release.

Stable release on the Galaxy S26 FE

Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 FE with One UI 9 and Android 17 preinstalled, making it the first Galaxy S-series model to ship with One UI 9 as stable software, ahead of the S26 flagships still running the beta. Sixth Public BetaAugust 25, 2026

Samsung released One UI 9 Beta 6 for the Galaxy S26 series with an approximately 851 MB download and a short list of interface and camera fixes.

The roughly 1.68 GB update (firmware ZZEQ) ships the June 5, 2026 security patch and focuses on bug fixes, stability, and performance, with refined animations and improved responsiveness. It rolled out first in the UK and South Korea, followed by the US, Germany, India, and Poland.

Beta 1

First Public BetaMay 13, 2026

Samsung launched the One UI 9 beta program on May 12, 2026 and began rolling out the first build on May 13, 2026. Beta 1 is available for Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra users signed up through the Samsung Members app. The update is approximately 3.6 GB and includes the May 2026 security patch. This first build is a foundation release covering Quick Panel upgrades, DeX improvements, Notes additions, Game Booster changes, new security indicators, and major accessibility updates.

Quick Panel

  • More customization options for rearranging controls in the Quick Panel.
  • Adjustable size for brightness and volume sliders.
  • Adjustable media player size in the Quick Panel.
  • Sound mode button can now be separated from the volume slider for independent placement.

Samsung DeX

  • Move app windows between virtual desktops more easily using the top menu bar.
  • Desktop previews now appear in the Recents screen for single-tap switching between desktops.

Samsung Notes

  • New Tape feature: cover any part of a note with tape and reveal it when needed, useful for study or quiz-style notes.
  • New pen line styles added for more variety when writing or drawing.

Game Booster

  • Direct in-panel access to screen resolution and screenshot format settings without leaving the game.

Security and privacy

  • Automatic detection and blocking of high-risk or suspicious app installations before they complete.
  • Blue indicator at the top of the screen whenever any app accesses your location in real time. Tap it in the Quick Panel to see exactly which app is using your location.

Accessibility

  • Text Spotlight: zoom in and clarify selected text in a floating window without leaving the current app.
  • Adjustable Mouse Key speed for finer pointer control.
  • Additional physical keyboard shortcuts added system-wide.
  • Select to Speak: have the phone read out any selected text or on-screen content aloud.
  • TalkBack is now unified with Google's TalkBack and will receive updates through the Play Store, removing the need to wait for a full OS update.
  • Harmonized voice feedback across accessibility services for a more consistent experience.

Contacts

  • Access Creative Studio directly from the Contacts app to create personalized profile cards without switching apps.

Other changes

  • The Replace Swipe with Single Tap option has been relocated to a more accessible position in settings.
  • Parental Controls have been moved to their own dedicated section in Settings.
  • Lock screen media player widget now shows colorful waveform animations.
  • Media control buttons on the lock screen are now circular, replacing the previous grouped rectangular layout.
  • Audio output selection now uses This Phone instead of Media Output for clarity.
