PS5 Light Meaning: Every Color Explained
The light on your PS5 tells you whether it's on, asleep or stuck, and the DualSense has a few lights of its own. Here's what each one means.
PS5 console light
| Light | What it means |
|---|---|
Solid white | All good. Your PS5 is on. |
Blue, then white | It's turning on. It gets to white faster when it wakes from rest mode than when it was fully off. |
Solid orange | It's in rest mode. It can still charge your controllers and download and install games and updates. |
Blinking orange | It's going into rest mode. After a few seconds it should stay solid orange. |
Blinking white, then off | It's turning off. Wait for the light to go out before you unplug it. |
No light | It's fully off, so it can't charge controllers or download anything. |
Stuck on blue | The PS5 is frozen. Solid or blinking, if the blue never turns white, it needs a restart (see below). |
Keeps blinking white | The PS5 is frozen. If the white light keeps blinking and never settles, it needs a restart (see below). |
If the light is stuck
Unplug your PS5, wait 3 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. If it keeps happening, reinstall the console software from Safe Mode.
